Madison Girls Pick up Win on Senior Night

The Madison girls basketball team won their third game of the season on Thursday, topping Alcester-Hudson 66-53 in a foul heavy game. Madison built up a nine point lead early in the first quarter only to see the Cubs tie the game at 18 at the end of the quarter. Both teams struggled to score in the 2nd, with Alcester-Hudson taking a 26-23 lead at halftime. 

The 2nd half was dominated by free throw attempts for the Bulldogs. Madison made 15 of 27 free throw attempts in the 2nd half to pull away for the win. Audrey Nelson went 6 of 6 from the line in the closing minute to seal the win. 

Nelson finished with 21 points for Madison. Karley Lurz had 20 points and 9 rebounds. The senior hit 6 of Madison’s 9 three point shots. Ella Peterreins added 12 points in the win. 

Madison is now 3-13 on the season. The Bulldogs will travel to Canton on Saturday.
