Madison Bulldogs Fall To Defending 11A Champion Quarriers in Opener

Madison Bulldogs Football kicked off their season on Friday and fell to Dell Rapids, 44-13.

It was all Quarriers from start to finish. Both teams did however score on their opening drives and it looked like we were in store for a battle, but that wasn’t the case. Dell Rapids was a well oiled machine and still looked like the champs they were last season in 11A.

The Bulldogs were unable to contain the Quarriers dynamic senior running back, Mason Stubbe. Stubbe had just nine carries and garnished 174 yards rushing. Along with a 73 yard touchdown run to open the game, one of his three rush TD’s.

Madison had flashes of excellent offense, but couldn’t maintain it throughout the game. The run defense was what did them in – giving up 372 total rush yards to Dell Rapids.

Ben Brooks finished 10-for-16 passing for 81 yards and two touchdowns through the air. He was, however, sacked five total times. Cohen Hahn saw work as well when Madison split Brooks out wide to mix things up. He was 3-for-8 passing and 70 yards.

Jordan Pederson had nine carries for 30 yards rushing and Brooks added 13 carries for 77 yards.

Bulldogs will host Milbank in Madison for week two and look to get on track. The game will begin at 7pm with pregame starting at 6:30pm on AM 1390.
