The Madison Softball team ended their season over the weekend, competing at the State B double elimination tournament held in Sioux Falls. They opened up play with a loss to Vermillion before picking up wins over Douglas County and Lennox. Making their way back through the elimination bracket, Madison lost a one run game to Tea Area to have their season come to a close at 8-6. West Central defeated Vermillion in the second championship game to take the title. 

Madison Boys Golf team opened up the State Tournament in Vermillion by firing a day one 362, good for sixth place going into day two of the meet. Keaton Nighbert led the way for the Bulldogs firing an 81, Braden Eimers carded a 91, Blake Whitethorn a 94 and Dylan DeJong a 96. Sioux Falls Christian leads  the team scoring with a 330 and Lance Christensen, of Little Wound, fired the top score of day one with a 77. Nighbert is tied for fifth place as State Golf for Class A wraps up today.

 

The first ever Class A Girls Tennis Tournament got underway yesterday in Sioux Falls. It was a tough go initially in the singles bracket for the Madison Bulldogs as four of six players dropped their first matches up the day. In flight one, CC Graham went 1-1 on the day and is in consolation semifinal play, in flight two Mya Maxwell went 1-1 and also is in consolation semifinal play today. Flight three saw Lilly Wolf win her first match before losing in the quarterfinals and will battle in consolation play. In flight four, Emma Kruger had a bye and then picked up a victory and will be in the championship semi finals today, flight five saw Evelyn Graham go 0-2 and in flight six Bella Maxwell went 0-2, as both were eliminated. 

For Doubles, in flight one, CC Graham and Lilly Wolff went 1-1 and will be in consolation semifinal play. Flight two Bella and Mya Maxwell dropped their first match and are in consolation play. And in flight three, Evelyn Graham and Emily Van Liere dropped their lone match and will be in consolation play today.
