Macaluso homer powers DSU over Northwestern

After being tied at 4 in the 4th inning, Dakota State Baseball closed the game with a 5-0 run to beat Northwestern 9-4 at Flynn Field on Tuesday. Ryan McDaniel finished the game 2-for-4 with a double and 2 RBI. Mason Macaluso blasted the Trojans in front with a tiebreaking 3-run homer in the 4th. Nicholai Arbach picked up the win, tossing 5 shutout innings in relief while striking out 6 batters. 

The win gives DSU an overall record of 28-13. That’s the most wins for the Trojans since the 2012 season. Dakota State will wrap up the regular season this week, hosting a pair of double-headers against Bellvue on Thursday and Friday at Flynn Field. Games start at 1pm on Thursday and 11am on Friday. Regardless of the results of those games, DSU will be the #2 seed in the North Star Postseason tournament, next weekend in Forest City Iowa.
