Legion Baseball Back On

Daily Republic –

A press release from The American Legion Department of South Dakota said that a 2020 season can be sanctioned by the state’s governing body and an emergency meeting held Wednesday approved a season “to be administered by sponsoring posts, coaches and managers.” Adding to what has been a roller coaster of a week for youth baseball.

American Legion State Athletic Commission Chairman Dan Sudbeck said the state will rid itself of administration duties, such as setting rules and running the state tournament. It will be left up to the Legion coaches. The main reason for sanctioning the season was to allow teams to use their Legion name and logo, if desired.

Teams are directed to follow guidelines by the American Legion Department of South Dakota State Athletic Commission, which states that teams “must abide by local, state and national COVID-19 policies, have insurance and have permission from city officials to play.”
