Lady Bulldogs Enter Region 3A Tournament as Seven Seed: Game Preview – Madison vs Garretson

The Madison Lady Bulldogs (3-17 overall, 1-5 Region 3A) will see Region 3A Tournament action tonight when they head to Garretson to take on the Lady Blue Dragons.

Garretson

The Lady Blue Dragons (12-8 overall, 3-2 Region 3A) come in as the No. 2 seed and Madison is the No. 7 seed. This Garretson team has a winning record on the year, but let a lot of teams play them close. This bodes well for Madison who has been increasingly feisty as of late and not going down without a fight every night.

The Garretson defense allows 47.8 points per game to opponents and only score 45.9 per game on offense. This team is more of a perimeter team and doesn’t have much size with no players above six feet tall.

The head coach is Matt Schrank in his third season. He has a 39-26 overall record, going 9-6 in Region 3A.

Madison

Madison looks to play spoiler in this opening round matchup. As mentioned, they’ve been feisty as of late. Even had a pair of players with 15+ points each in their last outing.

They’re turning the ball over less in the game to game scoring by Audrey Nelson, among others, has seen a constant uptick. Defensively the intensity has increased and they’ve slowed players who will play at the college level next year.

Nelson leads the way in scoring with 10.3 points per game. Madison as a team averages 35.1 a game through 20 games this season.

Tipoff is set for 7pm with the pregame beginning at 6:50pm on AM 1390 Dakotas Best and AmazingMadison.com
