Howard, DeSmet, and Chester open the football season with wins

Nine man and 11B high school football teams kicked off the season last week. Elkton/Lake Benton took down the Colman-Egan Hawks, 56-16. Jack Mousel led the Hawks offense, going 6 of 11 passing with 134 yards. Jase Mousel caught 4 passes for 120 yards in the loss. Johnny Keyes caught a TD pass, and Sutton Bunde had a rushing score for Colman-Egan. Colt Beck had 4 rushing TD’s for Elkton/Lake Benton. 

Also Friday, #4 Dell Rapids St. Mary beat Waverly-South Shore 38-12. DeSmet beat Castlewood 40-12, and the Howard Tigers topped Hanson 26-0. 

Chester Area opened their season with a dominating 40-0 win over Garretson.
