Grady Kane leads Team USA to Bronze medal at World Archery Youth Championship
Madison’s Grady Kane has helped lead the Team USA 18 & Under Men’s Compound Archery team to the bronze medal at the 2023 World Archery Youth Championships. Team USA received a bye in the 1st Round of the elimination bracket, and then defeated Spain 229-216. The Americans then faced India in the semifinals. Team USA took a 163-162 lead following the 3rd end, but Team India won the 4th and final end 58-54, to win the match by the final of 220-217.
That set up the Bronze Medal Final the USA and Italy. Team USA needed 20 total points on their final arrows to win the match. Landyn Cox scored a 5, and Dewey Hathaway followed with an 8. Kane then needed a 7 or better to win the match, and scored a 10 with his final arrow to send the USA to a 208-204 win. Mexico defeated India 216-215 to win the gold medal.
Next up for Grady Kane at the World Youth Championships is the Individual Compound Competition. Kane qualified 15th out of 41 in the 18 & Under bracket. That was good for a 1st round buy. The Madison teen will now take on #18 seed Rafael Moreira of Brazil in the 2nd Round on Saturday.
