Thursday Night Cornbelt League Recap

Garrett Gassman and Jared Miller each had home runs, and the Canova Gang beat the Humboldt-Hartford Wood Ducks 12-2 on Thursday night. The Gang pounded out 12 runs on 15 hits, while winning the game in seven innings. Canova pitchers gave up just 5 total hits and struck out 7. The Wood Ducks starter Logan Larsen took the loss, allowing 7 runs while striking out 4. 

The Madison Broncos loaded the bases in the 2nd inning but scored just one run, and that missed opportunity cost them in a 5-3 loss to Salem on Thursday. The Cubs pounded out 10 hits in the win, while the Broncos struggled to get baserunners the rest of the game. Cole Cheeseman finished the game with 2 hits and 3 runs scored for the Cubs. Tyler Earls pitched a complete game for Salem to pick up the win. Greg Biagi led the Broncos with 3 hits in the loss. 

Dell Rapids PBR fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 12-2 loss to the Humboldt-Hartford Gamecocks on Thursday. Joe Hanich had a homerun in the 1st to put Humboldt up early. It was just one of 6 extra base hits for the Gamecocks. PBR was led by Reese Arbogast, who went 2-for-3 at the plate. 

Mark Abrahamson, Ty Hoglund, and Kole Zimmerman all hit home runs for the Dell Rapids Mudcats on Thursday, in a 13-2 win over Lennox.Â
