Finalists for NHSACA Coach of the Year Award Announced

The National High School Athletic Coaches Association has announced the finalists for the NHSACA Coach of the Year Award, and Maridee Dossett and Misty Larson were both named as finalists. 

Those considered for this award have been selected because of their outstanding coaching longevity and win-loss record, championship years, awards received and service to the coaching profession and to the student-athletes of South Dakota.

Dossett is the Gymnastics coach for Madison High School and has been a finalist for this award in the past, after being named as a finalist in 2016. Larson, meanwhile, is the Boys Track and Field coach at Chester Area High School.

The other finalists for this award are: Paul Hendry, Rapid City Stevens High School, Girls’ Track & Field; Bill Martens, Aberdeen Central High School, Girls’ Cross Country; Kurt Schultz, Baltic High School, Boys’ Cross Country, Jeff Halseth, Sioux Falls Lincoln High School, Golf; Pat Moller, Mitchell High School, Tennis; Ryan Beier, O’Gorman High School, Soccer; Randy Marso, Brandon Valley High School Athletic Director; Bill Weber, Watertown High School Assistant Coach in boys’ sports; Scott Embry, Sioux Falls Lincoln High School Assistant Coach in girls’ sports.

All finalists will be honored on Wednesday June 22, 2022 at 5:30 PM CDT at the National Awards Banquet during the NHSACA 57th Annual Conference in Altoona, IA at the Prairie Meadows Hotel. This annual event is attended by athletic directors and coaches in 19 different sports throughout the United States.
