Dell Rapids Wins Back-to-Back State Titles

Dell Rapids opened up the State Championship baseball game against Dakota Valley getting four runs in the first inning, and Dakota Valley only able to answer back with one run early before storming back in the second with a four run inning of their own, grabbing a 5-4 lead in the bottom of the second.

It took a few innings before another run would be scored, but Dell Rapids was able to tie the game up at five a piece in the top of the sixth.

Neither team would be able to score another run through the final three innings, sending the game into extra innings. No team scored in the 10th inning, with Dell Rapids retiring in order and Dakota Valley not able to add to the scoreboard.

The defending champions then went off in the 11th inning hitting  six runs in the 11th leaving a big hole for Dakota Valley to try to dig themselves out of in the bottom of the 11th.

Dakota Valley was unable to register another run, allowing Dell Rapids to win a second consecutive title, winning the 2022 Class B State Championship with a final score of 11-5.
