Dakota State Men’s Basketball split a pair of games this weekend at the Isreal-Strong Classic in Aberdeen. Taking on Briar Cliff on Friday, the Chargers never trailed in the game – jumping out to a 14-5 advantage after five minutes and led 43-30 at halftime. DSU made a late charge, pulling within 6 points at 86-80 on back to back three’s from Carson Rentz and Josh McGreal with 1:51 left. But the Chargers ended the contest on a 6-0 run, coming away with a 92-80 victory. Three Trojans were in double digits, led by McGreal’s 21 points, Gare Ewefada had 15 and Rentz off the bench had 14.

DSU was able to finally pick up that elusive first victory on Saturday evening, an 83-61 win over Oak Hills College. After an early back and forth affair, the Trojans got out to a 26-16 lead after 12 minutes. Dakota State extended the advantage to 45-26 at the break. Five players were in double digits for DSU, who shot a blazing 55% in the contest, including 44% from beyond the arc. Rentz led the with with 20 points as Dakota State now stands at 1-7 on the season and will be back in action tomorrow (Tuesday) part of a Men’s/Women’s doubleheader versus Trinity Bible College at the DSU Fieldhouse.
