Class B Amatuer State Baseball Tournament Day One Results

It was a big time fifth inning that catapulted Lennox to a 12-3 domination of Milbank. The first round win kciked things off for the Class B State Amatuer Baseball Tournament.

A monstrous eight-hit inning came about and blew open this game on Thursday evening in Mitchell. After trailing 1-3 going into the fifth, the Alpacas reeled in 11 runs to jump out to a 12-3 lead and never looked back. The Alpacas were led by Kyle Braun and a player they picked up, Ryan Tuschen of Salem, who both had a pair of hits. Lennox had 11 total hits in the win over Milbank.

JD Kirchner picked up the win after going 6 ⅓ innings in relief of Brock Anderson, who only got through 2 ⅔ to begin the game. Kirchner finished with nine K’s (strikeouts), three hits and two walks.

Despite Millbank’s starting pitching being hot in the early going, it fell into a cold spell after having six strikeouts in the first three innings.

Lennox advances to the second round of the Class B State Amatuer Baseball Tournament and are set to face Lake Norden at 5:30pm on Sunday.

It was a pitching duel in game two of the opening round of the State Amateur Baseball tournament. Flandreau and Lake Norden duked it out in a low scoring affair as Lake Norden came out on top 1-0.

Lake Norden was led by its pitching as starter Jordan Johnson threw seven strikeouts in as many innings. Nick Arbach came away with a six-out save to help give the Lakers the victory in Mitchell.

Lakers advance to the second round and will take on the Alpacas. Lennox won the opening first round game and will play the Lake Norden at 5:30pm. That game will be broadcast live on KJAM-AM 1390 Dakota’s Best.
