Chester girls take lead into Day 2 of Class B State Golf

The Chester Area girls have the lead after the opening day of golf at the Class B State Golf Meet at Cattail Crossing in Watertown. The Fliers team score of 245 is seven strokes better than 2nd place Bison/Hettinger/Scranton. 

Jadyn McDonald is two strokes out of 1st place, after shooting a 6 over par round of 78. Ayla McDonald is tied for 4th after an opening round of 79, and Cadence Olivier sits in 18th place with an opening round of 88. Allison Kahler of Bison/Hettinger/Scranton has a 2 stroke lead over the field after her 76 on Monday. 

The Howard Tiger girls also find themselves in contention heading into today’s final round. The Tigers sit in 4th place as a team, with a 1st day score of 272. Trinity Palmquist paced the Tigers with a score of 86, and sits in a tie for 12th. Piper Thompson is three back in a tie for 19th, and Halle Schultz is tied for 40th after a round of 97.

The Class B Boys Meet is also in Watertown, at Prairie Winds Golf Course. The Colman-Egan boys find themselves tied for 3rd place after their opening round score of 252. Gregory and Ethan are tied for the team lead with a total score of 243. 

Colman-Egan’s Taylor Kriech is 5 strokes off the lead after an opening round of 79. Sawyer Uhing shot an 86 for the Hawks, and Camden Schmidt an 87. 

Howard’s Lane Hodges and Luke Koepsell both shot 86 on Monday and are tied for 28th, along with Jackson Remmers of McCook Central/Montrose. 

Final rounds began today at 8am in Watertown.Â
