Bulldogs win top five battle with Dakota Valley

For just the 2nd time in over a decade, the #5 ranked Madison Bulldogs volleyball team picked up a win over the #2 Dakota Valley Panthers. Madison pulled out the 3-0 victory at home Thursday night, for their seventh win in a row this season. 

The Bulldogs jumped out to an early lead in set 1, leading by six points before the Panthers began to close the gap. Dakota Valley finally tied the set at 24 each, before the Bulldogs won the final points for a 26-24 win. In the 2nd set it was Dakota Valley who took the early lead, and the Bulldogs who had to rally from a six point deficit, winning the set 25-23. 

The two teams exchanged the lead multiple times in the final set, with the Bulldogs finally pulling away late for a 25-20 win. 

Audrey Nelson led the bulldogs with 10 kills, 8 blocks, and 15 digs. Callie McDermott and Kate Johnson each had 2 aces. Sophie Tuttle finished the match with 9 kills, and 4 aces to lead Dakota Valley. 

The Bulldogs are 16-2 on the season, and 7-1 in the Dakota XII Conference. Madison continues their homestand next week, hosting Milbank on Tuesday, October 10th.
