Bulldogs Take Care of Business on the Road Against Fighting Cougars; Win 66-35

The Madison Bulldogs hot start propels them to victory on the road against the McCook Central-Montrose Fighting Cougars, coming out on top 66-35.

Madison improves to 7-8 overall and 3-2 in Region 3A play. It’s the first win for interim head coach Chad White at his alma mater. The win ends the three-game losing skid for the Bulldogs and gives them an above .500 record in region games.

The tone was set in the opening quarter when Madison began on a 14-3 run. The Bulldogs blew things open in the first, winning it 23-6. Including a season-high first half in scoring with 42 points. 

The Fighting Cougars couldn’t buy a basket most of the night. Registering two single digit quarters for a total of 12 points. Their leader in scoring was Mason Sabers with seven points. Madison held him to three points below his usual scoring average of 10 per game.

The Bulldogs defense was locked in from the opening tip. Forcing tough shots for MCM and getting takeaways. The offense made it rain from the perimeter and nearly tied their season-high in made threes (11). They finished the game with 10 3PM in route to the victory.

Leading the way in the scoring department was Ben Brooks who came away with 20 points in the game. The only other Bulldog in double figures was Andrew Comes with 10 points off the bench. Nine different players scored in the game and Madison had 25 total points coming from the bench unit.

Next Game

Next the Madison Bulldogs will have a pair of games this weekend starting on Friday with West Central coming to town. Then hitting the road Saturday for a doubleheader in Canton against the C-Hawks.
