Bulldogs Stave off C-Hawks Late Game Comeback; Beat Canton 80-74

The Madison Bulldogs hold off the comeback effort from the Canton C-Hawks and win on the road, 80-74.

Madison improves to 8-9 overall after the win. The Bulldogs scored a season-high 80 points in the game. It was a game in which they dominated from the opening tip and led at the half 43-19. They allowed just a seven point second quarter before the break.

Then the second half happened and so did the C-Hawks. They outscored the Bulldogs 55-37 in the second half and fell just shy of their comeback efforts. Canton posted a 24-point third quarter and a 31-point fourth quarter and got it down to as many as two points in the final quarter.

The C-Hawks were led in scoring by Pierce Mastallr with 25 points, with 17 coming in the second half. He was a major factor in their comeback efforts. Along with Julius Moore who had 15 points off the bench, with all of them coming in the second half. As well as Matt Anderson who added 14 points, with 12 coming in the second half.

The Bulldogs were held to just two points the first four minutes of the fourth quarter. A massive three by Elijah Sims in the right corner gave them the boost they needed to regain some rhythm. They scored 13 more in those final minutes, with 11 coming by way of three throws made.

Ben Brooks led the way in scoring for Madison notching back-to-back 20+ point games with 24 points in the game. Three other Bulldogs saw double figures – Chuck Callahan finished with 14 points, Andrew Comes had 13 points off the bench and Eli Barger added 10.

Next Game

Next the Madison Bulldogs will travel to Dakota Valley this Friday, Feb. 16 to take on the Panthers and play the back end of a doubleheader with the girls.
