Bulldogs Return Home for a “Battle of the Bulldogs” Again: Game Preview – Madison vs Milbank
The Madison Bulldogs (8-10 overall, 3-3 Region 3A) will return home for the first of two final home games this week, starting with a matchup against the Milbank Bulldogs.
Milbank
Milbank (13-5 overall, 6-1 Region 1A) are heading in the right direction. Currently in the best season they’ve had since 2011-12 when they went 18-6 overall and 4-1 in Region 2A.
They’re a team more known for their defense than their offense, but both can pose problems. Defensively, they allow just 46.9 points per game. While offensively, they score 60.4 a game. They have a decent amount of length and are built similarly to Madison in terms of size and age groups spread within the team. They’re currently riding a five-game winning streak as well.
They’re led by head coach Logan Diede. Who posts an 80-71 overall record and is 32-21 in Region 1A. This season is currently their best during his tenure overall and in region play.
Madison
For Madison, they are coming off a game where they took on one of the best teams in the state in Dakota Valley. Now they get a chance to round out their season on their homecourt.
This group has been a bit of a roller coaster this year and will need to win these last two home games of their season to have a .500 record on the year. They’ve had moments of brilliance, as well as those that will leave you scratching your head as to what just happened out there and how.
The Bulldogs have dropped their last three home games and haven’t won since Jan. 11 against Flandreau on their homecourt. Madison must keep their spirit high even when mistakes happen or an opposing crowd gets rowdy. The foot needs to stay on the gas for these Bulldogs when they have leads and bring about continued aggressive play offensively no matter your lead or deficit.
Tipoff is set for 4:30 pm in the Madison High School Gym with the pregame beginning at 4:20pm on AM 1390 Dakotas Best.
