Bulldogs Looking for Back-to-Back Road Wins: Game Preview – Madison vs Vermillion

The Madison Bulldogs (6-6 overall, 2-2 Region 3A) are set to travel to take on the Tanagers in Vermillion after this game was previously postponed weeks ago due to weather.

Vermillion

The Tanagers (8-4 overall, 3-0 Region 4A) are a talented team, but have dropped three of their last five after starting this season 6-1. They average 65 points per game. They’re mostly a young team with just four seniors on their team.

The Tanagers like to play fast and get up and down the floor. Very active hands on defense to force teams to turn the ball over. This group is no slouch defensively, but aren’t as good as earlier in the season. Allowing 57.3 points per game through 12 games.

They’re led by head coach Jay Drake who has been at the helm for the Vermillion Tanagers since the 2008-2009 season. He posts a 199-139 overall record and is 51-31 in Region 4A play. Drake is on the hunt for win #200 in this game against the Bulldogs.

Madison

Madison has been teetering lately floating around .500 and dropping three of their last four home games. It’s their first time dropping back-to-back home games this season after starting 3-0 on their homecourt.

The Bulldogs are led by a pair of scorers in double digits. Ben Brooks leads with 11.8 points per game and Chuck Callahan scores 10.2 per game. They’ve looked a bit out of sorts in recent outings and have not done the things that made them successful early. They’ve been without Andrew Comes in the last two outings and his presence has been missed.

The defense has allowed 60+ in the last two losses. Madison is 2-2 on the road, but should be 4-0. They’ll hit the road again to see if they can get things back on track and secure back-to-back road wins for the first time this season.

Tipoff is set for 7pm with pregame beginning at approximately 6:50pm on AM 1390 Dakotas Best and on YouTube at KJAMRadioMadison.
