Bulldogs Hungry for a W: Game Preview – Madison vs Lennox

The Madison Bulldogs are back in action as they travel to Lennox, SD to take on the Orioles at the Lennox Football/Track Complex.

Madison comes into the game still searching for its first win. They’ll have a tall task on the road visiting the Lennox Orioles. A team who has seen all levels of competition so far this season and has come out on top every time but once. Which was a one-score loss to Canton 28-20.

Lennox

The Orioles are a talented team. Junior quarterback Boston Katzer has quality size at his position at 6’4 and is able to see over his offensive line. He is also a playmaker in his own right. Has the ability to throw his receivers open. Very much a passing offense. Katzer threw for over 300 yards passing against Dakota Valley last week with four touchdowns and one interception.

Credit goes not only to the players, but the coaching staff in Lennox. Excellent play calling offensively and trust in their players. The defense is no slouch either, only giving up 20+ points twice this season.

The defense held DV to just 4-for-14 on third down. It’s a by committee defense for Lennox. Solid run stoppers and they always get to the QB.

Madison

For the Bulldogs, they haven’t caught a rhythm this year. They haven’t gone winless through six games since the 2009-10 season when they finished 0-8.

This team has the ability to put it together. They just have to, ya know, do it. And they need to be able to do it for four straight quarters. In the last four outings, the Bulldogs have thrown a total of 11 INTs. Though when this offense is rolling, they score with ease. When the defense is confident, they can dominate.

Playoffs are likely out of the question this year, especially if they lose this matchup. Yet if they string together a win for the first time against the Orioles and some games swing favorably amongst other teams, who knows what could happen. Right now they’re way outside looking in (13th), but the seed points aren’t far off from those right on the outside looking in like Beresford and Custer. Who each only have one win on the season.

Kickoff is set for 7pm tonight in Lennox with the pregame beginning at 6:40pm on AM 1390 Dakotas Best.

Below is a look at the current seeding. If playoffs began today, Madison has an avg 36.5 seed points:
