The Madison Bulldogs dominate on their home floor and defeat Deubrook Area, 73-41 in the Madison High School Gym.
With the win, Madison improves to 3-1 overall. One that didn’t have the looks of being a blowout win after the opening quarter. Where the lead was just 11-8 for Madison. The Bulldogs led early in part to a number of missed free throws by the Dolphins. Deubrook Area finished the game 4-for-15 at the line and were 2-for-8 in the first quarter.
Madison took advantage of an out-of-sorts Deubrook team. Limiting them to just 15 points at the half. This game featured three quarters with 20 points or more for Madison. Coming into this game, Madison only had two 20-point quarters. Both of which happened in the season opener against Elk Point-Jefferson.
Deubrook Area was led in scoring by Jacob Jorenby with 22 points, half of which came in the third quarter alone. If not for his scoring run, the Dolphins had just two other points from anyone else in the third quarter. Jorenby also led his team in steals with four. Following him was Isaac Gass with eight points through three quarters of play off the bench.
The Dolphins shot 39% from the field and 45.7% from deep. Shooting 50% from beyond the arc in the second half. Draining five threes after missing all four in the first half.
For Madison, all players saw action in the game and 10 of Madison’s 12 players scored in the 32-point victory. They were led in scoring by Andrew Comes with 19 points and five made threes. Hitting a three in every quarter for the Bulldogs. Followed by Myles Schneider with 13 points off the bench.
The Bulldogs shot a blistering 16-for-26 (61.5%) from the field and 6-for-9 (66.7%) from beyond the arc in the second half. Finishing the game 50.9% from the field and 45.8% from three. Madison finished with a season-high 11 made threes.
The team will return to action again on Thursday. They’ll hit the road and travel to Baltic to take on the Bulldogs.
