Matthew C. Ellerbrock, 52, of Canistota, SD passed away suddenly due to natural causes on July 14, 2022 at his home.  Visitation with family present will be held from 5 – 7 pm on Monday, July 18 with a 7 pm prayer service at Kinzley Funeral Home in Salem.  On Thursday, July 21, visitation with family present will be held from 4 – 6 pm with a prayer service at 6 pm at Daniels Funeral Home in Burlington, WI.  A private burial will be held at a later date.

Matt was born on November 28th, 1969 to Dennis and Micki Ellerbrock in Lima, Ohio.  He grew up learning a strong work ethic with a love for boating, hunting and fishing.  He married the love of his life, Marybeth Martin, on June 16, 1995.  They were blessed with three sons: Nathan, Jacob and Joe.  While raising the boys, Matt enjoyed coaching football and other various sports throughout the school year.  Matt served on the Westosha Central School Board for several years.  He enjoyed raising cattle, attending livestock shows, cooking, fishing and spending time with family and friends.  They moved to Canistota in 2021 where he continued his passion for cattle and hobby farm activities.  Matt held a special place in his heart for their dogs.  He enjoyed working and coaching at McCook Central School for the past year.  He shared a great smile, high fives, and positive influence towards the students and staff.  Matt was one to always share his wise words and knowledge with others.

Grateful for having shared his life include:  his wife, Marybeth; sons, Nathan, Jacob, and Joe; his parents, Dennis and Micki; his siblings, Mark (Jody) Ellerbrock and Lisa (Pete) Garver; in-laws, Bob and Karen Martin, sister-in-law, Kathy (Kurt) Stiefvater; and nieces and nephews, Kyle (Amanda) Fields, Gavin, Julianna, Josh and Aiden Ellerbrock, Pierce, Rachel and Becca Garver and Lauren, Megan, and Karlie Stiefvater.

The family wishes to thank the Canistota Fire and Rescue, McCook County Emergency, McCook County Sheriff Department and Flight for Life in their efforts and compassion.
