Margaret “Peg” Ann Moran Nieber’s beautiful heart beat its last “I love you” on October 21,
2021 with her five daughters, one daughter-in-law, four sons-in-law, nineteen grandchildren, and
seventeen great grandchildren loving her back.
Peg was born in Madison, SD on January 20,1925, to Frank and Agnes (Ward) Moran, her 100%
Irish parents. She was the last of the Moran clan of four girls and four boys. Peg was the Irish
grand mistress, representing their descendants, for several years at the St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
Peg will fondly be remembered for being a:
Volunteer extraordinaire at the Active Generation Center and St. Michael’s Church, where she
attended mass for many years. Her strong faith supported her through many joys and sorrows.
Dancer extraordinaire from her youth jitterbugging to ball room dancing at Active
Generations. Some of her children and grandchildren were lucky enough to be blessed with her
dancing genes.
Player extraordinaire from bridge and pinochle with family and friends to acting in the Drama
Club, she brought her competitive spirit and joie de vivre.
Friend extraordinaire to “Water Babies,” Austad friends, and bridge group. Her social calendar
was always full. She spent happy times with her awesome neighbors, especially June, her other
“pea in the pod.”
Baker extraordinaire with her world-renowned fudge and Special K bars. They were always in
demand at holidays and birthdays. Her homemade cinnamon rolls rivaled Cinnabon’s.
And most importantly, Mother extraordinaire because of her unconditional love for us all.
Peg leaves behind her loving daughters: Barbara (Steve) Johnson and their eight children and
four grandchildren; Kathleen Nieber-Lathrop (Richard Lathrop), their three children and one
grandson; Robin Nieber Lane and her three children and three grandchildren; Susan Palmer

her sixth “daughter,” Pat Sword.
Her beloved son, Jerry Nieber, preceded her in death.

for preparing our mom for her final journey.
