Linda Morehead, 67, of Mitchell passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, February 28, 2023 in Sioux Falls, SD.  Funeral mass will begin at 10:30 am on Tuesday, March 7 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Salem.  Visitation with family present will be from 5-7 pm on Monday, March 6 at Kinzley Funeral Home in Salem.

Linda Newlon was born May 4, 1955 in Mitchell, SD to Norman “Popeye” and Joan (LeClair) Newlon.  She grew up in Spencer, SD where she graduated from Spencer High School in 1973.  She then went on to attend school at Mitchell Tech.  She was united in marriage to Burton Morehead in November of 1973 and they were blessed with two sons, Tracy and Tony.

Linda worked for many years for Raven Industries, as well as a custodian at the Spencer School, before working for R&M Telemarketing and the Mitchell Daily Republic until a disability caused her to retire.  She lived in Spencer until the 1998 tornado destroyed her home.  She then moved to Mitchell, SD.  She loved going to rummage sales and dollar stores and riding the scooters in Wal-Mart.  She was a past member of the Wolf Creek Legion Auxiliary, the Spencer Sirens Auxiliary and St. Mary’s Catholic Church.  Linda was a proud mother and loved being a grandma.

She is survived by: her son, Tony of Sioux Falls; her daughter, Rachel Garrison of Pocatello, ID; her grandchildren, McKenzie Morehead, Kaylee (Morehead) Vincent, Madison Garrison and Braeden Garrison; and great-grandchild, Jackson Cherland and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her son, Tracy, special friend, Rodney Allen, her maternal grandparents, Francis and Grace LeClair and paternal grandparents, Emmett and Susie Newlon, and many aunts and uncles.
