Leroy Eugene Kipp passed away Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

A prayer service will be held Monday evening, September 5 at 7:00 p.m. at Kinzley Funeral Home. The family will be present at 6:00 p.m. The funeral will be held at Christ Lutheran Church in Salem at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 6.

Leroy was born October 17, 1936 to Dora and Paul Kipp on the family farm near Montrose, SD. He attended country school until the sixth grade, after which he attended school in Montrose. He graduated in 1954.

Leroy went on to attend South Dakota State University from which he graduated in 1958. He was employed as a Federal Investigator for the FDA beginning in 1959. He retired January 3, 1997.

Leroy married Eunice Getman in Sioux Falls on October 31, 1959. They had two daughters, Deb and Dawn.

While employed, Leroy and his family lived in Minneapolis, MN for 15 years; Peoria, IL for 14 years; and Sioux Falls for five years. After retirement, Lee and Eunice built a home in Salem where they lived for 26 years. They moved to Good Samaritan Lodge Independent Living in Sioux Falls, where they currently reside, in October 2021.

Lee loved his family very much and was a special Grandpa and Great-Grandpa.

Lee loved to hunt in his earlier years and later loved to help his sons-in-law on the farm. He enjoyed playing cards and entertaining in their home.

Lee and Eunice also loved to travel. They were in all 50 states, a lot of Canada and Mexico, and 63 countries.

Preceding Lee in death were his parents Dora and Paul.

Left to mourn are his wife of nearly 63 years Eunice; his daughters- Deb (John) Scheier and Dawn (Pat) Scheier, all of Salem; his grandchildren- Joe (Anna) Scheier of Minneapolis, Rebecca (Drew) Lacey of Denver, Brittany (Jobin) Varghese of Houston, Ben Scheier of Sioux Falls and Jill (Chidi) Ohaeri of Denver; three great grandkids- Graham and Sloane Lacey and Amara Ohaeri of Denver; his brother Roger Kipp of Montrose and sister Charlene Larson of Sioux Falls; very special friends- Ed and Shari Kranz and Dan and Lu McKillop of Salem; and many other nieces, nephews and friends.
