LaVernice Whistler

LaVernice K. Whistler, 87, passed away October 7, 2020 at Diamond Care Center in Bridgewater, SD.  Visitation with family present will be held from 3 – 5 pm on Sunday, October 11 at Kinzley Funeral Home in Salem.  A private family burial will take place at a later date at the Spencer Cemetery.

LaVernice Kathryn (Stroh) Whistler was born March 9, 1933 in Nebraska to Wilford and Eva (Klein) Stroh.  LaVernice married LeRoy Whistler on August 25, 1954 in St Paul, NE.  In 1975 they moved to a farm by Spencer SD. They farmed with their son until LeRoy’s Death in 1987. She then continued to farm with Wayne until she moved to Diamond Care in 2018.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband LeRoy.

LaVernice is survived by her son Wayne (Connie) Whistler Spencer, SD. Grandsons Steve and Ben Spencer SD. Daughter Edina. Sister Laura (Aaron) Walter NE Nieces Krista Hanks NE, Fonda Hanks NE, Sue Walter, Nephews Ivan Hanks NE and Scott Walter NE.  www.kinzleyfh.com
