Jennifer Gaylor, 82, of Madison, SD (formerly of Kinston, NC and Williamsburg, VA) passed away on Wednesday, March 30, 2022, at Madison Regional Hospital.  A memorial service will be held at 2 pm on Monday, April 4 at Kinzley Funeral Home in Madison.

Jennifer Kirkwood was born July 15, 1939, in Yorkshire, England to Thomas and Hilda (Morehouse) Kirkwood.  She grew up in England where she survived the Battle of Britain and at the age of 15 immigrated to the United States with family.

She led a life of tireless love, service, and spirituality.

She began her professional career writing human interest stories for the Kinston Free Press and later transitioned to a life of service during which she served the states of North Carolina and Virginia with distinction as a social worker for over 30 years. She devoted the last decade of her working life to fighting for the rights of children as a Child Support Officer for the State of Virginia.

She was an avid and talented artist who injected prodigious beauty into the world with her drawings, paintings, and woodwork. In retirement, her artistic passion shifted to capturing the lives of her friends and loved ones in the media of much sought-after customized scrapbooks.

She was eternally selfless in both personal and professional life, always placing the interests and welfare of family, friends, and even strangers before her own. She will be sorely missed by all who knew and encountered her.

Jennifer is survived by her children; Jeffrey Gaylor of Nashville, TN, Michael Gaylor of Madison and Elizabeth Meadows of Kinston, NC; and grandchildren, Jordan Gaylor, Bridger Gaylor and Spenser Gaylor.  She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Rita.
