Gregor Streff

Gregor Streff, 85, of Salem passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at his home under hospice care.  A memorial mass will be held at 10:30 am on Monday, April 8 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Salem.  Visitation with family present will be held on Sunday from 6 – 7 pm, with a 7 pm prayer service at Kinzley Funeral Home.

Gregor Streff was born August 25, 1938 to Henry and Joyce (Barnhouse) Streff on the family farm in Salem.  He graduated from St. Mary’s High School and went on the join the Army National Guard.  Gregor married Gayle Kadechda on April 20, 1963 at St. Mary’s in Salem.

Gregor farmed all his life.  It was not only his job, but his passion in life.  He loved feeding cattle, building things, and working on machinery.  He especially enjoyed delivering hay to Minnesota, Iowa and Nebraska and getting to visit with customers on the way.  Gregor was always willing to help others whenever needed.  He also enjoyed traveling when he had the chance.

Gregor is survived by: his wife, Gayle of Salem; children, Pamela Streff, Wanda (Bob) Carr, Kimberly Streff, Stacey Carr and Greg Streff; grandchildren, Jessica (Bret) Serocki, Jodi (Franklin) Thompson, Tyler Carr, Jeffrey Carr, Cody Carr, Jacob Streff, Kylie Streff and Tobias Streff; great-grandchildren, Ireland Thompson, and Aurora and Esta Carr; sister, Sr. Joyce Streff of Yankton; sisters-in-law, Francis Streff and Kathryn Streff; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, parents-in-law, and brothers, Clyde and Curtis.
