Barbara (Brockel) Huber, 83, passed away on Easter Sunday April 17, 2022, of natural causes at the Rapid City Hospice House in Rapid City SD. Funeral services will begin at 11 am on Monday, April 25, 2022 at Sun Prairie Baptist Church in rural Salem with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 5 – 7 pm, at Kinzley Funeral Home in Salem.

Barb was the youngest of 4 children; she was born in Herreid, SD on September 3, 1938 to Theodore Brockel and Alvina (Quenzer) Brockel. She attended county school. After school, she went to college to become a teacher. She taught country school for many years. She moved to Eureka with her family. Then she met her love of her life, August Huber and they married on June 7th, 1959. They moved to New Rockford, ND, where she babysat.  When her children were all in school, she started working at the school in the kitchen.  She lived there until 1974, when the family moved to Salem, SD. There August and Barb bought the Coast to Coast store. After selling in 1980, she worked at the nursing home as a cook and then a supervisor.  She worked there until she retired in 2013. Her hobbies were bowling, golf, cooking, baking, playing Christian songs on her piano, cross stitching, quilting and lots of crafts. She was a member of Sun Prairie Baptist Church in rural Salem, which was always the center of her life. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren. Barb was a devoted mother and grandmother and loved her holidays with family. Easter was her very favorite time of the year. She loved putting puzzles together and when the family was together, she loved playing games.

Barb is survived by: her son Donald Huber Gillette WY, son Bruce Huber (Marin) of Sioux Falls SD, daughter Cyndi Weber of Billings MT; grandchildren whom she adored, Daniel Huber, Bailey (Huber) Kemerling, Jon Erik Huber, Camryn Huber, Allison Huber, Amber (Weber) Wurdeman, Dustin Weber, Chelsey (Weber) Shaffer; and 11 great grand children.

Barb was preceded in death by her husband, August Huber, her parents and 3 brothers, Melvin Brockel, Delaine Brockel and Cletus Brockel.
