Barbara Hanisch, 76, of Humboldt passed away on Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at Ava’s House in Sioux Falls.  Funeral mass will begin at 10 am on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at St. Ann Catholic Church in Humboldt.  Visitation will be from 5-7 on Friday evening with a 7 pm rosary and prayer service also at the church.

Barbara Bannwarth was born May 10, 1945 in Sioux Falls, SD to Eldon and Vernique (Reecy) Bannwarth.  She grew up in the Humboldt area and graduated from Humboldt High School.  On September 19, 1964 she married Giles Hanisch at St. Ann Catholic Church in Humboldt.

Barb work as the bookkeeper for City Glass in Sioux Falls for many years.  She was an active member of St. Ann Catholic Church where she served on the Altar Society, the Catholic Daughters and the funeral luncheon committee.  Barb enjoyed spending time with friends and family, quilting, sewing, gardening, crafting and decorating for the holidays.

She is survived by: her husband, Giles; children, Kevin (Calista) Hanisch, Lori (Rich) Jensen, Paula (Mark) Johnson and Andy (Julie) Hanisch; grandchildren, Bryce Hanisch, Weston Hanisch, Quinn (Brianne Haskell) Hanisch, Tristan Hanisch, Brooke (Jason) Metz, Michael (Rachel) Jensen, Brendan Jensen, Aaron (Hailey) Johnson, Jeremy (Allie) Johnson, Ryan (Rachel) Johnson, Jace Hanisch and Ashlyn Hanisch; great-grandchildren, Everli Johnson and Miles Metz; and siblings, Phyllis Harden, Ron (Diane) Bannwarth, Diane (Vince) Siemonsma, Jean (Clayton) Vilhauer, Steve (Norma) Bannwarth and Mike (Mary Kay) Bannwarth.  She was preceded in death by her parents and infant sister, Dorothy.
