Unterbrunner Excited for First Year as Bulldogs Head Basketball Coach

Three weeks from today, the Madison Girls basketball season will tip-off, with a new head coach running the team this year in Maxine Unterbrunner. Unterbrunner is already the Head Track and Field Coach at Madison High School, but this will be her first year running the girls basketball team as well.

One thing that she could not understate was how excited she was for the opportunity to be the head girls basketball coach for Madison. She started her career coaching basketball, and now she is looking forward to the opportunity to finish her career coaching basketball.

With a new coach, it could take a little bit of time for the players to get acclimated to the new system Unterbrunner brings, but she believes that once everyone figures out their roles with the team, everything will unfold the way it should.

A year ago the Bulldogs only won three total games. This year, Unterbrunner obviously would like to see improvement in the win-loss column for her team, but also wants to see her players improve individually, both on and off the court.

Having already been a head coach in track and field Unterbrunner feels will help her as she transitions to her new role with the basketball team.

Unterbrunner and Bulldogs will play their first game on December 8th when they head down to take on the Dell Rapids Quarriers. Tip-off will be at 5pm, and the game can be heard on AM 1390 or online at AmazingMadison.com.
