Two Madison Runners Compete in State Cross Country Meet

Both boys and girls teams for Madison had one runner compete in the SDHSAA Class A State Cross Country meet over the weekend. The race was run Saturday, October 22nd at the Broadland Creek National Golf Course.

Dylan Gerdes ran for the Madison Boys team on Saturday, running a time of 18:16.64 that earned him a 54th place finish out of the 125 boys runners in the 5k at the meet. 

Jessie Tappe for the Madison Girls ran her race in 21:25.38 for a 61st place finish. There were 119 total girls who ran the 5k race at the meet. 

The top teams at the meet were Belle Fourche for the boys and Sioux Falls Christian for the girls. Belle Fourche had the top two boys runners, with Sawyer Clarkson running a 15:30.28 and Lane Krautschun running 16:06.24. 

Isabelle Bloker of Dakota Valley was the top girls runner with her time of 18:32.67.

The state meet was the conclusion of the season for the two runners, who got to run in the state meet after their performance in the Region 2A meet on October 13th.Â
