Madison Wins in Five Sets Against Vermillion

In a back forth match last night against Vermillion, the Madison Bulldogs escaped with a win at home in five sets.

Vermillion came out and won the first set 25-18 before Madison answered with a 25-18 set of their own in the second set. Vermillion then regained the lead with a 25-23 third set win.

The Bulldogs continued to battle, sending the match into a fifth set after winning the fourth 25-22.

Just like most of the match throughout the night, the fifth set remained tight, but Aubrey Nelson hit the final kill to give Madison the 15-13 set win, allowing Madison to beat Vermillion in the match 3-2.

Nelson registered 29 total kills on the night. The next closest was Vermillion’s Serena Gapp with 19. Nelson also led the night with blocks, getting five blocks. Three players between the two teams tied with four blocks (Lydia Nelson-Madison, Brooklyn Voss-Vermillion, Shaelynn Puckett-Vermillion)

Madison improved to a 7-6 record overall, and will take that record into their match at home next week against Arlington on Tuesday, September 20th.Â
