Madison Track and Field Starts Season at Early Bird Meet in Hartford Yesterday

The Madison track and field teams competed in the Early Bird meet in Hartford yesterday for the first outdoor meet of the season.

The girls team had Evie Boeker finish first in the 100-meter hurdles at 19.52 seconds and Taneaja John placing third. Sophia Peterreins also placed first in the 300-meter hurdles in 58.63 seconds and John placing second. Madison finished second in the medley relay at a time of 4:51.16 with Peterreins, Maycee Theede, Kylie Krusemark, and Ellie Keller. The Lady Bulldogs took third in the 400-meter relay and 8000-meter relay. More second place finishes include Miranda Gonyo in high jump, Bella Maxwell in shot put, and Abby Morse in discus.

The boys team had a pair of first place relay races. The medley relay of Aspen Dahl, Nate Ricke, Mickale Dohrer, and Braeden Keller cross first at 4:04.61. Dohrer and Keller, with Deion Cross and Dylan Gerdes, took the top spot with a time of 9:15.12 in the 3200-meter relay. The two other relays were the 800-meters in second and 400-meters in third Kadin Hanscome had a long jump distance of 20’8, good for first. He also placed second in the 100-meter dash. Trey Smith placed first in discus and third in shot put, Colby Vostad took third in discus, and Elijah Olson grabbed third in high jump. Other finishes include Peyton Wolf in second and Eli Barger in third for the 300-meter hurdles, Aaron Hawkes in the third for the 400-meter dash and Shane Veenhof in third for the 110-meter hurdles.
