Madison Starts Playoff Football Tonight

As the Madison Bulldogs football team gets ready for their first playoff game tonight, they will be facing off against a familiar foe in the West Central Trojans.

The last time the Bulldogs were on the field was on October 13th when they lost to Vermillion. After not getting to play their final game of the regular season last week after a Custer forfeit, Coach Tom Nielsen believes that the team is hungry to get out there.

Earlier in the year, the Trojans came up to Madison and handed the Bulldogs their second straight home loss. Though Nielsen doesn’t want to think about this possibly being a “revenge game” he does like both how his team competed in that game and also how they have grown since.

With playoffs, it means that the season could be over before you had originally anticipated. For the seniors especially, that has led to the players being a little extra focused as they want to keep their season going.

This Bulldogs team has grown a lot since that Week 3 loss. They have gone on 3-3 since the loss to finish out their regular season going 4-5. West Central will be no easy game, as they finished the year 8-1, but knowing how much the Bulldogs have matured and gotten better gives them the chance to redeem that loss earlier in the year while also moving on to the next round of the playoffs.

Winner of tonight’s game will play the winner of Canton @ Beresford. A link to the full bracket can be found here.

Kickoff tonight at West Central will be at 7pm, and the game can be heard on AM 1390 or at AmazingMadison.com.
