Madison Races in the Region 2A Meet

In the Region 2A Cross Country meet yesterday, both Madison Boys and Girls Varsity teams finished outside of the Top 5. The race was held at the McCook Country Club. 

The Madison Boys team finished sixth out of the ten teams who ran in the meet with their average team time of 19:12.70. Sioux Falls Christian finished first with an average team time of 17:18.60. 

The boys had two runners finish in the Top 25, with Dylan Gerdes’ time of 18:06.25 giving him an 11th place finish. Henry Meyer ran a time of 18:52.26 to earn a 23rd place finish. 

Deion Cross (19:49.59) finished in 33rd, with Nathan Haselton not far behind with his time (20:02.70) allowing him to finish 37th.

For the Madison Girls, they finished seventh as a team out of nine teams with an average team time of 22:35.74. Sioux Falls Christian again placed first overall with their average time of 19:37.01.

Jessie Tappe was the top finisher for Bulldogs with her time of 21:12.74 allowing her to finish 20th. Tappe was the lone Bulldog to finish in the Top 25. 

The other three Bulldogs were bunched close together with Emmy Havlik (22:56.43) finishing in 36th followed by Lou Schladweiler (23:06.35) in 38th, and Samantha Troxell (23:07.47) in 39th. 

Madison will next race in the SDHSAA Class A State Cross Country Meet at the Broadland Creek National Golf Course on Saturday, October 22nd.Â
