Madison Falls Behind Early in Loss to Howard

Despite outhitting Howard yesterday, the Madison Bulldogs baseball team fell to the Tigers 7-3.

The Tigers grabbed the early lead in the bottom of the first inning and never looked back, scoring four runs in the inning.

Madison attempted to answer with a run in the second, fourth, and fifth innings to bring themselves within one run of the Tigers at 4-3 heading into the bottom of the fifth. However, Howard again had a multi-run inning, adding three more in the fifth. With the Bulldogs unable to answer, the Tigers went on to win 7-3.

Ben Brooks took the loss on the mound for the Bulldogs, as he surrendered seven runs on four hits in four and a third innings, while also striking out seven.

Credited with the win was Jack Neises, who lasted four and a third innings. He allowed eight hits and three runs along with a walk, and striking eight batters.

As a team, Madison outhit Howard 8-6 and did not commit an error while the Tigers committed one.

Eli Barger went 2-3 at the plate, leading the Bulldogs in hits.

Griffin Clubb led the Tigers with two hits as well.

Madison plays again tonight when they host Warner-Ipswich-Northwestern at 6:30pm.
