In an important match-up in Hartford, it was West Central who came away with a 33-14 over Madison on Friday night, on the gridiron. The host Trojans built a 17-0 advantage in halftime, controlling the clock with an effective triple-option offense (a theme that was echoed throughout the night). Madison came alive in the early stages of the third quarter, getting a pair of touchdowns in three offensive plays. The first was a 35 yard pass from Nate Ricke to Carter Bergheim and the second was a short run by Ricke.

Trailing 17-14 in the third quarter, Madison would move the ball inside the Red Zone but a fumble quelled their drive and momentum. West Central would use a 15-play 58-yard drive, taking up over 7 minutes, to move into the fourth quarter. The Trojans would add 3 field goals and a pick-six in the fourth. Madison turned the ball over 4 times in the second half.

West Central ended up with 68 plays for 301 yards, Madison just 39 plays for 168 yards. With the loss, the Bulldogs drop to 3-4 on the season – and will be back in action this upcoming Friday, at Lennox
