Madison Boys Tennis Competed in Day One of Class A State Tennis Tournament

The Madison Boys Tennis team competed on the first day of the Class A State Tennis Tournament in Sioux Falls.  After the 1st day Sioux Falls Christian is leading the team standings finishing the day with 287.5 points.   Madison ended the first day in 10th place with 45 points.  

Individually for the Bulldogs in Flight 2 singles Tyler Wardner won his first match against Branden Yackley of Spearfish and dropped his second match.  Wardner will play in the consolation semifinals today against Tyler Loecker of Mitchell.

In Flight 4 singles Mason Kennington defeated Layne Lunstra (LEN) in the opening round and then dropped his Championship quarterfinal match.  Kennington then went on to defeat Mason Carrel of Aberdeen in the Consolation quarterfinals and will be playing Spencer Kelly of Pierre in the Consolation Semifinals today.

In Flight 6 singles, Elijah Sims lost his opening round match but came back and won the Consolation Quarterfinal Match.  Sims will be playing Henry Beckloff of Rapid City Christian today in the Consolation Semifinals.

In Flight 3 Doubles the team of Caleb Scott and Elijah Sims lost their opening round match but came back and defeated Pierre in the Consolation quarterfinals and will take on Pierre today in the Consolation Semifinals.

The Class A Tennis State Tournament play will continue today at Kuehn Park and McKennan Park in Sioux Falls.
