Madison Baseball Falls to Sioux Falls 6-4

The Madison Bulldogs baseball team lost for a second straight game earlier this week, falling to Sioux Falls Christian 6-4.

The Bulldogs opened up the scoring in the top of the second inning off of a Calvin Kelsey RBI Single. The Chargers scored their first runs in the bottom of the third after scoring three runs to go up 3-1.

After Madison scored two runs to tie it up in the top of the fourth, SFC answered with another three-run inning to go up 6-3 and also take the lead for good.

Madison added one more run in the top of the sixth, but was not enough to overcome the two strong innings from SFC, as they fell to the Chargers 6-4.

Hayden Kane took the loss on the mound for the Bulldogs after going two innings and allowing three-runs on two hits while striking out one and walking none.

Paul Hoekman grabbed the win for the Chargers, going three innings of one-hit ball and one run while striking out four.

The Bulldogs collected six hits, with Carsen Schneider and Thomas Mechels each getting multiple hits, with two hits a piece. Mechels also led the Bulldogs in stolen bases with three. Madison had ten total stolen bases.

Madison, now with a 2-3 record, host Baltic tonight at 6pm.
