Large Third Inning Helps Lead to Shutout Victory for the Bulldogs

The Madison Bulldogs baseball team used a large third inning to grab the 16-0 shutout victory against Oldham-Ramona/Rutland/Arlington. 

The Bulldogs scored two runs in each of the first two innings to get out to the early 4-0 lead. 

Then in the top of the third, the Bulldogs began their scoring outbursts with three different RBI Doubles to take a 7-0 lead. Madison added nine more runs in the third inning to take a 16 run advantage. 

After the Rebels were unable to score a run in the bottom of the third, the Bulldogs were able to end the game in three innings with a final score of 16-0. 

Lucas Johnson grabbed the win for Madison on the mound, pitching three innings of two-hit ball. He allowed no runs and struck out four batters.

Hayden Kane, Thomas Mechels, and Braxton Bjorklund each had two hits for the Bulldogs. Kane also added an RBI, while Mechels and Bjorklund both had two RBI’s.

As a team Madison had 12 hits, compared to two hits and six errors for the Rebels. 

Madison returns home tonight when they host Sioux Valley at 7pm.Â
