Lady Bulldogs Lose Fifth Straight

Last night the Madison Girls basketball team lost their fifth straight game, losing to Tea Area 64-38.

The last time the Bulldogs would lead in the game was early in the first quarter, and when they lost that lead they lost it for good. The Titans had a 14-8 lead after the first quarter, though the Bulldogs did try to answer back in the second.

Madison outscored Tea Area 12-10 in the second quarter, but still trailed 24-20 heading into halftime. 

Coming out of the half, the Titans began to pour it on the Bulldogs, putting up 27 points in the quarter to take a 51-32 lead into the final quarter. With Madison only able to score six more points in the final quarter, Tea secured the victory with a final score of 64-38.

The Titans led by as much as 29 points against the Bulldogs. 

Ella Pettereins was the lone Bulldog to put up double-digit points, scoring 13 points and grabbing four rebounds. Audrey Nelson had nine points and five rebounds before fouling out. Zoey Gerry scored seven points and got seven rebounds. 

As a team, Madison shot 15-51 from the field and 2-14 from three-point range. 

Mara Grant for Tea Area had a game leading 27 points and seven rebounds. The Titans shot 50% from the field (22-44) and only missed two free-throws (15-17). 

The Bulldogs drop to 3-9 this season with the loss, and will be looking to end their losing streak next Monday, January 30th when they hit the road and travel to Tri-Valley. The game starts at 6:30pm and can be heard on AM 1390 or online at AmazingMadison.com.
