Lady Bulldogs End Losing Streak and Surpass Last Years Win Total

In the Dak XII/NEC ‘Clash’ the Madison Bulldogs girls basketball team was able to end their eight game losing streak to get their fourth win of the season, defeating Deuel 52-40.

Both teams kept it close early, with Deuel taking a 13-11 lead after the first quarter. However, the Lady Bulldogs outscored the Cardinals 15-3 in the second quarter to take a ten point lead into halftime, up 26-16.

The big second quarter for Madison allowed them to carry their lead for the rest of the game, despite Deuel’s efforts in the second half. The Bulldogs went on to add 26 more points in the second half, winning the game 52-40. 

Madison was led by Audrey Nelson’s 19 points and seven rebounds. She also added two blocks and four steals. 

Two other Bulldogs added double-digit points, with Karley Lurz scoring 14 points and six rebounds, and Zoey Gerry finishing with 13 points and seven rebounds. 

The win for Madison is their fourth of the season, surpassing last year’s win total, while also ending the eight game losing streak they were on. 

Madison’s record is now 4-12 and they will have a week off before trying to get their first win streak of the season when they host Canton on Saturday, February 11th at 3:30pm. Game on Saturday can be heard on AM 1390 or online at AmazingMadison.com.
