A highly anticipated match-up between Madison and Dell Rapids on the gridiron went one-sided, as the visiting Quarriers came up with a 41-14 win on Friday night. Madison scored on the first drive of the game, a 33-yard touchdown pass from Nate Ricke to Dillon Bickett. Dell Rapids then used an opportunistic offense and a suffocating defense, scoring on their next two offensive drives and getting a pick-six to take a 19-7 lead after one quarter.

Another touchdown and a safety in the second quarter stretched the lead to 27-7 at the break. Dell Rapids would put up two more scores in the second half before the Bulldogs found the end-zone late in the fourth. The Quarriers out-gained the Bulldogs 308 to 191 in offensive yards. Ricke went 11 for 21 for 159 yards with a pair of touchdown passes and one interception. Madison struggled to establish a rushing attack in the contest, gaining just 32 yards on 25 carries.

Now at 2-1 on the season, Madison will hit the road next Friday, taking on the Bobcats of Brookings at SDSU.
