Bulldogs Hit the Road to Tri-Valley

Last night both Madison Bulldog basketball teams hit the road to Tri-Valley, with the girls team getting their sixth straight loss and the boys winning their seventh game out of their last eight.

Starting the night off was the girls game, which remained close throughout. Zoey Gerry got the Bulldogs on the board first with a three-pointer in the first ten seconds of action.

The Bulldogs only trailed by three at the end of the first half after a competitive first half that remained close throughout the second. Madison had trailed early in the third quarter, but began to come back and brought the game within one at 39-38 heading into the fourth.

Heading into the final minute, the game was within reach but down 50-48, Madison turned the ball over on the inbound with 15.5 seconds left, and Tri-Valley was able to hit their final two free throws to give Madison their sixth straight loss at 52-48.

The loss dropped the Lady Bulldogs to 3-10.

Zoey Gerry ended the night with 22 points and five rebounds. Karley Lurz added ten points and seven rebounds.

In the boys game, Andrew Comes got off to a hot start, scoring Madison’s first 12 points in the game, all coming from beyond the arc. Tri-Valley paced Madison in the first quarter, with the two teams tied at 14-14 after one.

Aiden Jensen started coming alive in the second quarter, but after the Mustangs hit a three-pointer heading into halftime, the Bulldogs only led by four at 32-28. Madison started the second half off with an 11-3 run, thanks in part to two more three’s from Comes, to help the Bulldogs lead 49-37 heading into the fourth.

Tri-Valley attempted to make the comeback in the fourth, but their attempts were blocked away by Jensen on a few occasions, as the Bulldogs went on to get their eight win of the season beating the Mustangs by a final score of 65-48.

Comes finished with a game leading 24 points, hitting eight total three-pointers. Jensen secured his sixth double-double of the season, getting 21 points and 12 rebounds. Jensen also added five blocks.

Chuck Callahan produced double-digit points as well with ten, along with grabbing eight rebounds and dishing out four assists. Eli Barger scored five points and grabbed seven rebounds.

Madison improved to 8-5 with the victory.

The girls team will play next, with another road game tonight at Deubrook Area scheduled to start at 7:30pm. The boys return home on Thursday hosting Beresford at 7:30pm.
