Bulldogs Drop Their Home Opener

In their home opener yesterday, the Madison Bulldogs boys basketball team lost to the Lennox Orioles 66-32. Lennox had a 21 point lead heading into the half and was able to hold on too and extend their lead in the second half.

Coming out of the gates, it seemed like Madison was going to keep it close against Lennox, but then the Orioles began to start pulling away late in the first quarter and would not look back.

After going into the half down 21 points, the Bulldogs failed to score any points in the third quarter until the final minute of the quarter, allowing Lennox to hold on to their big lead.

Aiden Jensen was the lone Bulldog to reach double-digit points scoring, after scoring 11 points, six of which came in the fourth quarter. Jensen also grabbed five rebounds. Thomas Mechels added nine points for the Bulldogs, while Ben Brooks had seven points and two assists.

Shane Veenhoff and Chuck Callahan combined for five points (Veenhoff 3, Callahan 2). Eli Barger led the team in rebounds with six, while Elijah Sims grabbed two boards.

Madison will be looking to even up their current 1-2 record this afternoon in the Entringer Classic, with a matchup scheduled at 3:30pm today against Castlewood. The game this afternoon can be heard on AM 1390 or at AmazingMadison.com.
