Both Boys and Girls for Madison Place 7th in Invite

The Madison Bulldogs participated in the Milbank Grandstay Cross Country Invite over the weekend, where both boys and girls teams placed seventh overall. 

Dylan Gerdes led the way for the Madison Boys team, finishing sixth overall in the 5k run after running a time of 17:10.90. No other Bulldog finished Top 20, however, Henry Meyer was just outside that threshold placing 21st overall with his time of 18:31.78. Other Madison Boy’s in the Top 50 were Ryan Jenks in 39th (19:43.16), Deion Cross in 44th (19:56.60), Nathan Haselton in 49th (20:00.86), followed by Daniel Aldridge, finishing 50th (20:02.39).

For the Madison Girl’s team, Jessie Tappe was the lone Bulldog to finish in the Top 25, placing eighth overall with her time of 20:56.02. 

Just outside the Top 25 for Madison was Samantha Troxell in 28th with a time of 22:33.12. Emily Lanners rounded out the Top 50 for Madison, placing 44th (25:22.79). Renee Haas was just outside the Top 50, finishing 52nd overall with her time of 27:13.81.

The average team time for the boys was 18:50.61, with a total time of 1:15:22.44. The girls team averaged a time of 24:01.44, and registered a total time of 1:36:05.74. 

Milbank’s boys and girls teams both finished first in the meet after the boys team averaged 17:14.87 and the girls averaged 20:43.58. Payton Brown of Milbank was the first place finisher individually for the boys with his time of 16:12.81. Faith Wiese, Flandreau, finished in first for the girls with her time of 18:41.38. 

The Madison Bulldogs Cross Country teams will be back today in the Charger Invitational at Yankton Trail Park in Sioux Falls.
