Three more COVID-19 deaths were reported in the state on Thursday.  The state’s virus-related death toll is now at 1896, according to the state Department of Health.  Another 232 new positive COVID-19 cases were reported also yesterday, and active cases increased to more than two-thousand.  There are currently 87 people hospitalized because of the virus.

Lake County reported six new positive COVID-19 cases Thursday and two recovered cases.  The county’s active cases have now increased to 38.

Elsewhere in our area, Kingsbury and Moody counties each reported thirteen active cases, and McCook County had 12 active COVID-19 cases as of Thursday.  Miner County reported eleven active cases, and Brookings County had 60.

As of Thursday, the state Department of Health said that 27-percent of the state’s population had received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, while nineteen percent had received both doses.
