Madison Central School District reports two new positive COVID-19 cases

Students and staff in the Madison Central School District returned to classes on Monday after the holiday break, and on Tuesday reported the district’s first positive COVID-19 cases of the new year.  Superintendent Joel Jorgenson said Tuesday that one student or staff member at Madison Elementary and one at Madison High School had tested positive for COVID-19.  The school district will notify parents of those students considered to be close contacts to these positive cases.

Jorgenson said that over the holiday break, the district had a total of nineteen reported positive COVID-19 cases.  These included nine in the elementary school, four in the middle school, three in the high school and three staff members.  He said that none of these cases count as active school cases since they took place during the holiday break and were not in the schools.Â
