The Lake County Commission holds its first meeting of 2021 on Tuesday.  

Before the regular meeting gets started, the county’s elected officials will take their oaths of office in the Lake County courtroom at 8:30.  This will include Commissioners Adam Leighton, Deb Reinicke, and Dennis Slaughter, along with State’s Attorney Wendy Kloeppner, Coroner Mark Rustand, and Treasurer Deb Walburg.

As part of their first meeting of the new year, commissioners will appoint their Chair and Vice Chair and approve several other annual business items.

Appointments for the commission Tuesday include Maria Schwader with Legislative Audit at 9:30 a.m. regarding the county’s 2018-2019 audit.  Sheriff Tim Walburg is scheduled to discuss personnel and inmate housing contracts with commissioners tomorrow, and EMA Director Kody Keefer will discuss the Local Emergency Management Performance Grant Special Project Award.  Highway Superintendent Nels Nelson meets with the commission to discuss a number of items, including speed reductions during spring load limits, the extended warranty on a used semi truck, and the county cleaning of driveways and snow being pushed onto the road right of way.

At 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, commissioners will hold a public hearing and second reading of an ordinance amending the official zoning map of Lake County by rezoning certain property.  

An executive session for personnel is scheduled for the end of Tuesday’s meeting.

The commissioners will meet in the commission room in the Lake County Courthouse and the meeting will also be accessible through Zoom.
